टी20 वर्ल्ड कप में शर्मनाक प्रदर्शन के बाद भारतीय प्रशंसकों ने युवा खिलाड़ियों को मौका देने की बात कही थी. जिसमें इशान किशन का नाम सबसे ऊपर माना जा रहा है, उन्होंने साल 2022 में भारत के लिए टी20 फॉर्मेट में कई यादगार पारियां भी खेली हैं। लेकिन न्यूजीलैंड के खिलाफ खेले गए दूसरे टी20 मैच में वह धीमी पारी खेलकर आउट हो गए. केन विलियमसन ने टॉस जीतकर भारत को पहले बल्लेबाजी के लिए आमंत्रित किया। पावरप्ले में धीमी शुरुआत के बाद जब टीम इंडिया रफ्तार पकड़ने ही वाली थी कि इशान किशन आउट हो गए. उन्होंने 31 गेंदों पर महज 36 रन बनाए, जिसमें बाएं हाथ के इस बल्लेबाज को इस धीमी पारी के बाद सोशल मीडिया पर जमकर ट्रोल किया जा रहा है। जिनमें से कई फैंस ने केएल राहुल से उनकी तुलना कर उनका मजाक उड़ाया है.
